After graduating near the top of her class at Albion High School, she went on to study at SUNY Fredonia where she majored in both Biology and Chemistry, finishing with a 3.9 GPA (she got a C+ in racquetball). In one week after graduating, she got accepted at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, got engaged, and moved down to Gainesville, FL. After graduating from UF she completed a 105 hour per week internship in emergency medicine at Veterinary Specialists of Rochester before moving with her husband to the Village of Lewiston. Over the next seven years she practiced
progressive medicine in Williamsville, while having and raising
